--Missouri employers added nearly 18-thousand jobs to Missouri’s economy in August. But the exodus of workers from the state’s labor force continues. The Department of Economic Development reports that a growth in manufacturing jobs lead to the creation of 17-thousand-9-hundred jobs in Missouri in August.

That’s the largest one month increase this year. But, the Missouri Journal reports that the civilian work force in Missouri dropped by almost 11-thousand in August compared to July

In the last year, more than 55-thousand Missourians have either retired, left the state, or stopped looking for employment through the state’s unemployment system.

Missouri’s unemployment rate remained steady in August at 7-point-2 percent.
