OBITUARY: HERMANN Robert “Bob” Tinsley Naylor (March 22, 1930 - May 31, 2012)

Robert “Bob” Tinsley Naylor, 82, of Hermann, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 31, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Robert was born in Lowry City, MO, along with his twin sister, Roma, on March 22, 1930, to the late James and Lillian (nee Tinsley) Naylor.

On January 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to Barbara Lucille “Lucille” Pulley at Lowery City, Missouri.

He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Gasconade, where he held the positions of trustee, greeter, and assistant music director. Bob was a singer in the group “Glory Bound Bluegrass” and sang as a guest with the “Porch Pickers.” Bob was an over the road truck driver for Pacific Intermountain Express (P.I.E.) for over thirty years. He also was a cattle farmer.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lucille, daughters, Vicky Knudsen and husband Dr. J.R. of Columbia, MO, Sandy Naylor of Hermann, Cathy Stiers and husband Dennis, of Hermann; by eleven grandchildren Matt Helling (Judy) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Sarah Johnson (Bill) of Columbia, MO, Kristine Dryden of Syracuse, Missouri, John Knudsen (Micki) of Hermann, MO, Stephanie Price of Madisonville, Kentucky, Clint Knudsen (Melissa) of Hermann, MO, Chris Kemper of Hermann, MO, Kelly Volmert of Washington, MO, Clint Stiers (Laura) of Washington, MO, Katie Rucker (Billy) of Hermann, MO, and Joel Stiers (Leslie) of Union, MO; Eight great-grandchildren, Ashley and John Helling of Murrells Inlet, SC, Christopher Bowman of Columbia, MO, Brenna and Alyssa Joe Volmert of Washington, MO, Dillon Stiers of Washington, MO, and Brianna and Ella Rucker of Hermann, MO. Bob is also survived by one brother, James O. Naylor of Lowry City, MO, and Roma Thompson, (twin sister) and husband Charles of Hawthorne, CA, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded him in death were his sisters, Helen Wilcox and Norma Baxter, grandson, Joe Volmert, and great-granddaughter Natalie Knudsen.

Visitation for Mr. Naylor will be Sunday June 3, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Harold Green officiating.

Interment will be at the St. John’s Cemetery, Stolpe, Missouri.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Gasconade or Ernest Best, missionary to the North American Indians.
