Laura Scheer, 96, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at New Haven Care Center.

Mrs. Scheer was born in Lyon, Missouri on September 21, 1915, the daughter of the late Theodore and Hulda (Hoemann) Althage. She was baptized and confirmed at Port Hudson Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

She was the widow of Victor John Scheer. They were married August 10, 1941 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson, MO.

Laura is survived by a daughter Joan Menke & husband David of Berger, Missouri, four grandchildren, Dawn Kelly & husband Mark of Evergreen, Colorado, Jill Monzyk & husband Craig of New Haven, Missouri, Jamie Pitzen & husband Mike of New Bloomfield, Missouri and Derek Menke & wife Christina of Arvada, Colorado, by nine great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Leora Scheer of Hermann, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Wera Althage, Serena Verman and brothers Lawrene & Edwin Althage.

Laura was employed at Langenberg Hat Company in New Haven for 35 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid Society. She was recently recognized as a fifty year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Laura was a regular participant at the New Haven Senior Center. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Missouri, on Wednesday, July 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven, Missouri, on Thursday, July 12th at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Herman Otten officiating.

Burial will be at Port Hudson Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery, Leslie, Missouri.

Memorials may be given to New Haven Care Center or New Haven Senior Center. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
