OBITURARY: NEW HAVEN: Robert Francis Monzyk (October 1, 1918 - December 12, 2012)

Robert Francis Monzyk, 94, of New Haven, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at New Haven Care Center.


Mr. Monzyk was born in Washington, Missouri on October 1, 1918, the son of the late Theodore R. and Frances (Hoelscher) Monzyk.


Mr. Monzyk was the widower of Doris A. (Koch) Monzyk. They were married December 23, 1948 at Hermann, MO. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2007.


Bob was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ New Haven, Mo., where he sang in the choir.


Bob worked several different places starting as a delivery truck driver for Mautel's Grocery Store in Washington.


Later in his career Mr. Monzyk worked at a machine shop in Washington, was also a schooled at Tool & Die Skills in St. Louis and Time Studies in Chicago, Illinois.


Mr. Monzyk then returned to New Haven and opened his own machine shop in 1958, which later became known as the New Haven Manufacturing Company that fabricated tent frames for Wenzel Tents Hawthorn later known as the Kellwood Company.


Mr. Monzyk served as President of the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce.


Mr. Monzyk enjoyed deer and fox hunting. He also earned his pilots license and was part of an aeronautics club, flying airplanes at Rohphings in Ethlah Bottoms.


He loved little league baseball and was a manager for many years in New Haven.


Bob is survived by three sons, Kevin Monzyk & wife Barbara of Fenton, Missouri, Craig Monzyk & wife Jill of New Haven and Kent Monzyk & wife Jana of Washington, Missouri, a sister Jane Davis, Kansas City, Missouri, a brother Richard Monzyk of Washington, Missouri, by grandchildren Erik, Erica, Kierstin, Brandon, Brett and Jared Monzyk. Great grandchild Hayden Wolfe, three step grandchildren Kristen (hise) Huesgen & husband Greg and Ali & Blain Abbott, two step great granddaughters Miranda & Morgan Huesgan.


He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers Lawerence, Bernard, Joseph & William Monzyk, sisters Rose Pace, Margaret Von Dera, Louise Nalan, Helen Greenstreet and Mary Stuckenschneider.


Visitation will be Friday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Mo.


Funeral Services will be held at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15th, with Rev. David Poe officiating.


Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Haven, Missouri.


Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Church Choir. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
