Senior Kayla Oetterer goes into tonight’s game only five points shy of hitting 1,000 career points.  There have only been three other Lady Shamrocks to ever reach such a career milestone since girls basketball began in 1994, Kristina Bailey, Tracy Branson, and Kathleen Scheer.

Oetterer began playing at the varsity level midway through her freshman year.

Oetterer’s path to being five points shy of 1,000 career points began her freshman year and to date she has made 376 field goals and 243 free throws, adding up to 995 career points.  She has a caeer average of 55% from the field and 60% from the line.

Oetterer has a career average of 13.6 pts/gm.  Her career high for points scored in a single game is 35, which occurred on Feb. 4, 2010 during her sophomore year against Cuba in a 53-59 loss.

Tonight’s game will be the 74 game of her career and possibly one game she will never forget.

New Haven will play at 9 p.m. tonight at Montgomery High School.

QNHN will of course be there to hopefully have live video of Oetterer scoring the big 1,000th point of her career.  As soon as it happens we will post it on QuickNewHavenNews.com as fast as we can.
