Jefferson City, Mo. – Cold, cloudy, and windy were conditions runners would be faced with on Saturday’s Class 1 State Cross Country Invitational. Thousands of spectators covered Oak Hills Country Club, a site to be held. There is not a single MSHSAA State event larger than the State Cross Country Race.

New Haven had three runners qualify for the 2011 State Meet, Seth Schenck, Dominick Pataky, and Zach Grater.

Pataky lead the way for the Rocks finishing 27th overall (18:43) followed by Schenck who came in 29th (18:45) and Grater who was the 84th runner to cross the finish line.  The Rocks may have not finished individually as they had hoped, but all three gave everything they had and left nothing on the track.

Pataky who is only a freshman finished third among the other freshman in the field of 169 runners.  Schenck finished fifth among sophomores, and a glimpse at some of the possibilities New Haven’s Cross Country team has.

One point separated Linn and Sparta for the Class 1 State Title.  The difference was Linn’s top three runners finishing ahead of Sparta’s number one runner, Jacob Loveland who finished 13th overall.

Linn’s Kaleb Wilson, Tyler Rush, and Chase Barbarick who finished in the top ten with Wilson winning the State Meet and Rush just seconds behind, taking second, Barbarick ninth, and leading the Wildcats to a Class 1 State Championship.
