Physician joins Mercy Hospice as Associate Director

WASHINGTON, Mo.William Winkler, MD, a physician at McAuley Clinic, is the new associate medical director of Mercy Hospice Washington.

Dr. Winkler attended medical school at Saint Louis University and completed his family practice residency at Mercy Hospital St. Louis (then called St. John’s Mercy Medical Center).

Throughout his career, he has been in private practice or closely affiliated with health care systems in St. Louis, Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin.

For the past decade, he has served as medical director of Mercy Home Care Hospice in Wisconsin, a member of the Mercy Health System Ethics Committee and a faculty member for the Mercy Health System Family Medicine Residency program.

Dr. Winkler sees patients of all ages at the McAuley Clinic, which provides medical care to underserved patients. The McAuley Clinic is located at the Mercy Medical Building North, 851 E. Fifth St. in Washington.

Mercy Hospice was formed in 1980 and is Eastern Missouri’s oldest Hospice provider. It serves 14 Missouri counties with focused programs for Alzheimer’s and End-Stage Cardiac Care.
