JEFFERSON CITY, Mo
-- Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt is said to be fine after
undergoing a heart procedure.

Missouri’s junior senator underwent a procedure Thursday to implant a
stent in the front of his heart. Doctors at George Washington University Medical Center detected a blockage in Blunt’s heart during a routine physical earlier this week.

“I continue to be a strong believer in the life-saving importance of early detection, and I encourage everyone to be proactive about their preventive screenings,” Blunt said after the procedure. “I’m very grateful for the care that I received from the medical professionals at George Washington University Hospital, and I look forward to returning to my regular schedule very soon.”

Blunt’s office said Friday that the senator will resume a full schedule next week.
