Teams from all over the state of Illinois and surrounding areas were in attendance, including New Haven’s own professional BBQ team, Shake ‘n’ Bake. The team consists of Tim Scheer, Keith Davis and Joe Munsinger. Team Shake ‘n’ Bake came into this weekend’s competition with hopes of winning and advancing to The American Royal World Series of Barbecue, the largest barbecue contest in the world. Shake ‘n’ Bake brought their “A Game” this weekend destroying the competition and winning the Grand Championship. Davis commented, “By winning this competition, our team has qualified to compete in Kansas City at the Royal Barbecue Competition”. To have an understanding of what these scores mean, I asked Davis about the scoring system and he said, “In the BBQ world, we won by a good margin”.
