Summer basketball camp is being held at New Haven High School this week.  Coach Ray Steinhoff hosts the camp every year to help players develop their skills as well has have fun.  Steinhoff does two sessions, one for high school kids in the morning and grade school kids in the afternoon.

Steinhoff described to QNHN the goals he tries to achieve during the weeklong camp each year.  “Our main goal with the older kids is trying to improve their fundamentals, get the ball in their hand, and make it competitive at the same time.  We don’t do any kind of team activities; rather focus on improving player’s individual skills.”

In the afternoon session, Steinhoff’s goal is to make playing basketball a fun thing to do and hope that the students develop a desire to play high school basketball and be a future Shamrock.  “If my younger group simply has fun this week, then I am pleased.”
