Shamrocks cruise into District Championship game 12-3

Blake Eggers knocks in two runs on a one out single, giving New Haven the lead.

St. Elizabeth, Mo – New Haven scored 12 runs on 13 hits, forcing Calvary Lutheran to change pitchers three times.  Blake Eggers lead New Haven with three hits and three RBIs.  Garrett Schoenfeld threw a complete game, giving up three runs on seven hits and the Shamrocks a birth in the District Championship game.

New Haven trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth – Schoenfeld and Andrew Schwentker led off with back-to-back singles and Kyle Ruediger’s sacrifice bunt brought Eggers to the plate with runners on first and third.

Jake Terchluse makes an aerobatic catch to take a base hit away from the Lions.

Eggers took advantage hitting a line drive to left field, scoring both runs and giving New Haven a 4-2 lead.  The Rocks went on to score six runs to end the inning with a five run lead, 8-3.

Coach Jim Scheer said, “ That was a big hit from Blake [Eggers].  Before Blake’s hit, Kyle’s [Ruediger] bunt was just as big as Blake’s hit.  Credit Garrett [Schoenfeld] and Andrew [Schwentker] for starting things off in the inning.”

Four of Calvary Lutheran’s nine errors led to four runs in the bottom of the sixth giving New Haven a nine run lead. (12-3).

Schoenfeld finished off the Lions in the seventh, striking out two and forcing a game ending ground ball.

The Shamrocks will take on the number one seed St. Elizabeth on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
