New Haven, Mo – Last night around 11 p.m. we witnessed fireworks shot off in the area of Douglas Street and Melrose Street.  We were unable to determine exactly what residence the fireworks had come from.

Law enforcement had been contacted and were also unable to determine who had deployed the fireworks.

We contacted Assistant Police Chief Dan Terry this morning and he said the city ordinance banning the use of all forms of fireworks will be strictly enforced.

Terry said, “We have the authority to issue a citation or a summons to appear in court.”

The use of fireworks, especially with the extreme dry conditions, puts the lives of others at risk.  If someone were to shot a firework that led to a fire or even worse a death, the consequences could result in a much harsh penalty than a summons to court.
