Mon., Nov 21 - We received additional information last night from Pam Ruediger, Stylest at Hair, who received a phone call from SPN requesting $379 dollars. The caller said that the amount would purchase 100 balls.  SPN is obviously targeting businesses in New Haven.

If there are any other businesses please let us know as we continue our investigation.

New Haven, Mo. -- Ben Vedder, owner of BMI, in New Haven, Mo. contacted us on Thur. about a phone call he received and was asked to sponsor balls for the High School cheerleaders to throw out at basketball games.  The female caller referred to the Cheerleading Coach, LuAnn Engelbrecht, in what appears, as a way to establish credibility.

Vedder said that the caller was not able to provide much information about the sponsorship.  The caller identified herself as working for Sports Promotion Network and used the acronym, “SPN”.

We asked LuAnn Engelbrecht if she was aware of this.  She said that they had made a purchase from Spirit Shop, but she has never heard of SPN. Engelbrecht said, “I have never given anyone permission to use my name as a third party vendor.”

We searched the Better Business Bureau, and SPN is not a member according to the research we conducted on the BBB’s website.  The company does have a website and under the “contact us” section there is no physical address given other than they are located in Arlington, Tx.

We also spoke with New Haven Superintendent, Kyle Kruse, and he is not aware of this company.  He said, “It is not our practice to have third party vendors call local businesses on our behalf.”

If anyone else has been contacted by SPN please let us know.  We will continue to investigate further.  We have attempted to make contact with the company as well as the Attorney Generals office.
