When you get into a car accident…there’s an app for that.

The Missouri Department of Insurance now offers a Smartphone app that takes you through the steps to take after the crash. It’s called the “WreckCheck Mobile Application”, is free and compatible with iPhones and Android devices.

The program is the creation of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and follows a recent survey showing that many Americans don’t know what to do after an accident.

Giving out too much information, even if you are at fault in the wreck, can be risky. Missouri Insurance Department Director John Huff says that’s one concern the app is designed to help address.

“After a car accident, it can be difficult to remember all the proper steps to take, the WreckCheck app is a quick reference that explains what information to share, protecting your safety and helping your insurance claim go more smoothly.”

The app also allows you to create your own accident report with photos and send it directly to your insurance agent. Go to Insurance.mo.gov for the download.
