Williams Selected ACC Rookie of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. – For the second time over the last three weeks, Duke University freshman Elizabeth Williams has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Rookie of the Week on Monday by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.

Williams averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks on the week as the Blue Devils split their two contests.  The Virginia Beach, Va., native also hit 18-of-24 field goals for a 75.0 field goal percentage.

Against USC Upstate, she hit 10-of-10 field goals, had a career-high 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and one blocked shot. Her perfect 10-of-10 field goal mark is the second-best field goal percentage in school history.

At 10th-ranked Kentucky, Williams totaled a team-high 17 points, six rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot, while shooting 8-of-14 field goals in the contest. On the season, Williams leads Duke with a 13.6 scoring average and 9.0 rebounds per contest.

Williams was also named ACC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 28 and became the first Duke freshman to earn multiple ACC Rookie of the Week honors since Abby Waner in 2005-06.  Miami’s Riquna Williams was selected ACC Player of the Week on Monday.
